Candidate filing for special elections opens

Various positions open for Seeley-Swan residents

Candidate filing for special district elections, including school board and community councils, opened on Dec. 12.

Particularly in unincorporated towns like Seeley Lake and Condon, being a part of various boards is a way community members can get involved in local issues and in some cases — in community councils particularly — can be the mouthpiece for the community to the Missoula County Board of Commissioners.

In the Seeley-Swan area, there are two open positions on community boards: one with the Swan Valley Fire service area and one on the Seeley Lake Community Council, which is an alternate position. Those interested must file with the county by Feb. 10.

A school board position for the seat representing Seeley Lake, Clinton and Potomac Schools is open on the Missoula County Public Schools Board of Trustees. This board position would represent these rural schools to Missoula County Public Schools, as the Seeley-Swan High School is part of that school district. Those interested must file by March 27.

At Seeley Lake Elementary School there are two three-year positions open and one one-year position. Swan Valley Elementary School has one year-three position open.
