Ovando Christmas Fest rings in the holiday season

It was a cloudy but still day when Cowboy Claus rode into town for the 27th Annual Christmas Fest in Ovando on Nov. 29.

Visitors were treated to a craft show in the gym, wagon rides by the Henrekin family from the gym to the town square and the Stray Bullet, Blackfoot Angler, Ovando Museum, Red Shed and Blackfoot Commercial Company welcomed visitors with gift items as well as standard fare.

Chili and fry bread were served from the Hoosegow (original jailhouse) and Gingerbread houses and fire truck tours were available at the firehall.

Children were also welcome to write letters to Cowboy Claus, who rode into Ovando to join the party around noon.

"I love that you can make really good toys and that you have really good reindeer that can take you all over the world," said a seven year old visitor, Dominik, in a letter he gave to Cowboy Claus.

Cowboy Claus was slightly delayed but still had plenty of time for the visitors.

Approximately 90 candy canes were given out by the museum, "although a few parents took one," according to Museum Host Barb McNally.
