The Seeley-Swan Hospital District Board is conducting a survey to get a more comprehensive idea of how the board and clinic can better respond to the needs of those in Seeley Lake.

Board Chairwoman Terryl Bartlett said living in Seeley Lake, one can get used to running into Missoula for various medical needs that the clinic in town doesn’t offer, but she said the survey intends to shed more light on why a person might be traveling to Missoula for services the clinic provides.

Currently, Bartlett said the clinic in Seeley Lake offers a variety of vaccinations, including covid-19 and flu shots, Medicare wellness exams, well child exams and sports, Department of Transportation and pilot licensing physicals. Same-day appointments are available for urgent needs, but more emergency needs, like broken bones, will likely require a trip to Missoula.

The survey stemmed out of conversations had at hospital board meetings regarding how to make the clinic more appealing to Seeley Lake residents. Bartlett said the clinic does an amazing job, but that the board needs to continuously evaluate what it can provide and the survey is a way to “help us help you,” Bartlett said.

“The hospital board would like you to consider your hometown clinic as a place for your basic healthcare needs. With the economy as it is, going to Missoula can be a financial burden,” Bartlett said. “Our little town is extremely lucky to have the clinic.”

Surveys will be mailed out to Seeley Lake residents this week and will be placed in local businesses for people to pick up if needed. An online option is available here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SJQTBL5
