Blackhawks remain undefeated

Hype is building in Seeley Lake for the Blackhawk football team. So far in the season, they're undefeated.

"It's been awhile since we've started out three-and-o," Jacob Haley, Blackhawk football coach, said.

Last weekend the team faced off against Mission, who was also undefeated until they went up against the Blackhawks. Mission's offensive was pretty good on film, Haley said, but the Blackhawks' defense was phenomenal.

The game started out a little rough, but at halftime the Blackhawks had the lead with 28-0. Both teams got a touchdown in the second half of the game, but it wasn't enough for Mission to cinch the win. The Blackhawks ended ahead with a 34-6 victory.

"We're feeling pretty good about it," Haley said.

Senior Seth Dunster scored three touchdowns and played a big game, Haley said. Blackhawk Quarterback Blake Irwin, a junior, had at least two touchdowns and passed for several. Haley also highlighted Kolten ZurMuehlen, who is primarily the team's receiver, and Derrick Brovold, tight end, who caught passes for touchdowns.

Friday's home game is against Arlee starting at 4 p.m. Arlee had a good team last year, Haley said, though a lot of the seniors graduated. It should be a tough test, and Haley hopes to have a big crowd in the stands to cheer on Seeley's undefeated football team.
