Support for Sen. Tester

I would like to echo C. Burt Caldwell’s endorsement of Sen. Jon Tester in his July 25 letter to the editor in the Pathfinder.

Sen. Tester has consistently demonstrated he is working for all Montanans. That contrasts sharply with Sen. Steve Daines who is highly partisan and is in fact a leader of the Republican National Committee. His first loyalty seems to be with his party. Our congressional representatives, Rep. Ryan Zinke and Rep. Matt Rosendale are junior senators who don’t seem to be accomplishing much at all, despite the fact they are in the majority back there in Washington D.C. And as a Vietnam veteran, I can assure you Sen. Tester has been critical in assuring veterans’ care in Montana. Sen. Tester will continue to protect our Democracy while those other folks would erode it.

The final and most important reason to support Sen. Tester is he is a native son and he understands this state. He was born and raised here and he has farmed this state and knows the people. Those other three are partisan. While they might mean well, they would make Montana into something different than what native Montanans understand and prefer.

I prefer the old Montana where your word is gold and a handshake seals the deal. And I’m pretty confident those of you who have moved here from another state moved here in part because you appreciate that we hold those values so dear.
