Twyla Jane Johnson: Oct. 18, 1969 - Aug. 11, 2024

Loving mother, wife, sister and daughter, Twyla Jane Johnson, 54, of Seeley Lake, Montana passed away Aug. 11, 2024 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Twyla was born on Oct. 18,1969 in Rugby, North Dakota to Curtis and Patricia Knight. As a child she was educated in the Glasgow Public School system. Growing up Twyla admired her dad's passion for photography and later had a love for taking photos with her Nikon camera. She was a straight A student and strong athlete, competing in high school volleyball, basketball and track. After high school she studied Spanish at the University of Montana, graduating with a bachelor's degree in May 1991. As part of her foreign language degree, she completed a six-month study abroad program in Spain. Directly following, Twyla and her mom spent the next four weeks backpacking around Europe including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and Ireland.

In January 1992 Twyla met Todd Johnson in Missoula, Montana and they married in 1995. The couple lived in Seeley Lake where she worked as a business manager of Clearwater Montana Properties for nearly 30 years. Twyla was an active member of the Seeley Lake community taking part in many community enrichment projects such as organizing the fundraising activities for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), serving on the Community Medical Center Board and as an active member of the Montana Association of Realtors.

Twyla was a devoted wife and mother. What she cherished most were her children Sidny and Chance and watching them grow into amazing and successful adults. There was nothing she wouldn't do for them, and her last thoughts were of how proud she was of both of them.

Twyla was a die-hard Griz fan with season tickets in the north end zone and she enjoyed tailgating with her friends and family. Twyla also spent many happy years traveling and experiencing the world with her sister Rhonda and dearest friend Robin. She loved cooking exotic foods for her family including red curry, pad thai, tikka masala, homemade ice cream, crème brule and much more. Twyla enjoyed the challenge, there was nothing she wouldn't make for her friends and family to try.

Twyla loved her family fiercely, attending nearly all of her kids' sporting events wearing Blackhawk gear and cheering loudly from the stands. There was nothing Twyla loved more than spending time with her family and being on the beach. For many years Twyla traveled down to Mexico and other topical places to soak up the sun. She also enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo every year, winning at blackjack, playing endless games of pinochle, camping, boating, walking her dog Hazel and eating good food with her friends.

Survivors include her husband Todd Johnson, Seeley Lake; two children, Sidny Johnson (Landon Score), Billings, and Chance Johnson, Missoula; sister Rhonda Knudsen, Seattle; mother Patricia Knudsen and step-father Carl Knudsen, Billings; and plenty more that loved her.

She was preceded in death by father Curtis Knight, Glasgow; and sister Carla Knudsen, Seattle.

There will be a celebration of life to be held at the community hall in Seeley Lake on Sept. 8 from 2 pm until 6 pm.
