Six months in, gratitude to offer and an intern to introduce

It’s been just over six months since I started as the editor of the Pathfinder. I wanted to write here to explain a couple of things, introduce a new intern and offer some gratitude.

As I’m sure many of you have noticed, our office hours and responsiveness in some ways have been wacky. We’ve been without a working computer for a month, which has made our office manager’s job quite difficult. I’ve been so grateful to Jessi for continuing to do as much as she possibly can without a computer. As of last week, we have a new computer, and Jessi will be able to start working on the backlog. I humbly ask for your continued patience as she gets the ball rolling again.

I would like to introduce Clara Kyrouac to you all as our new intern through December. Clara recently graduated from Seeley-Swan High School and is taking a semester off before starting at the journalism school at the University of Montana. In the meantime, she wanted to get some extra experience, and I’m so glad to be able to offer that to her. Her first piece for the Pathfinder is in this edition and focuses on how the construction company Kiewit has supported the Seeley Lake community through its years-long project along Salmon Lake.

Finally, like so many editors, visitors and locals alike, I’ve really fallen in love with the Swan Valley and the Clearwater Chain of Lakes. I was able to go on a trail run that brought me to the Rumble Creek Lakes and paddle board on a relatively empty Holland Lake after all the parades on the Fourth of July. I really can’t get over looking at the Mission Mountains from the Swan side.

There’s been ups and downs for sure through this half year so far, but I’m glad to be here. Thanks for your patience with our computer problems, and please never hesitate to reach out to me at pathfinder@seeleylake.com.
