Kiewit giving back

For the last two years, the Seeley Lake community has been impacted by the Salmon Lake Construction Project. Until it is scheduled to end this fall, the construction company is making efforts to support the Seeley Lake community.

Kiewit has done that in a variety of ways. The company donated to the Seeley Lake Community Foundation the last two years. In 2023, it put money towards the Change Your Pace Fourth of July fireworks fundraiser. This year, it contributed to improvements on the Nordic ski trails and supported the Loon and Fish Festival financially.

In late May, Alpine Artisans, a local organization focused on supporting artists in the area, approached Kiewit about sponsoring the festival, as it's the biggest festival hosted in Seeley Lake over the summer. They were receptive to the idea, and both Alpine Artisans and Kiewit have appreciated the collaboration, according to representatives of both organizations.

Kiewit's contribution will help in many ways, with one of the most significant being the money they're putting towards Alpine Artisans' Youth Grant and Scholarship Program.

According to Alpine Artisans Accessibility Coordinator Jenny Rohrer, the program, "has awarded over $41,000 in grants since 1996 to students who want to pursue art lessons, art summer camps and higher education in the arts."

The construction project is scheduled to end this year, and when it does Kiewit will be less active in the community. However, making a difference while they're here has been a priority.

"We understand construction projects can be disruptive to communities, and while we can't participate in all opportunities we try to make a positive impact when possible," Michael George, Kiewit project manager, said.
