Come, Holy Spirit of truth

Jesus ascended to Heaven to receive the glory due to Him because of His humility and obedience (Philippians 2:1-18); to be our Mediator and Advocate sitting at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 9:11-28); and to send the Holy Spirit. (John 16:1-33)

Before ascending Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” (John 14:15-31)

The Lord remains with us working through His Church, priests and in His sacraments, especially in the Holy Eucharist who is Jesus Himself. “...lean not on your own understanding [or intelligence];...” (Proverbs 3:5-7)

Jesus said to his disciples: “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth.” (John 16:1–33)

Since the Holy Spirit guides His Church to all truth, how can there be thousands of different “truths” as represented by thousands of different denominations? The Holy Spirit cannot change truth; God cannot lie, deceive, nor be deceived. (Hebrews 6:13-20; Numbers 23:19-20)

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7: 21-23)

“...one body and one Spirit,...one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all,...” (Ephesians 4:1-6; Philippians 4:1-9)

The Roman Catholic Church has an unbroken line of popes from Peter to Francis who have always taught infallibly on Faith and morals when teachings aligned with Holy Scripture or Sacred Tradition.

“Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.” (2 Thessalonians 2:15)

“I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who create dissensions and obstacles, in opposition to the teaching that you learned; avoid them.

For such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites, and by fair and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the innocent.” (Romans 16:17-20)

“Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words has something to judge him: the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the last day...” (John 12:44-50)

God desires all souls be saved, but God doesn’t force; He gives all souls free will.

When Jesus founded His Church He said, “... the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:13-20), so no matter what anyone does or says against the Church, God is in control, and He will never permit His Church to dogmatically err or be destroyed.

“Not my will but Thine be done” is how we cooperate with grace from the Holy Spirit of truth.
