Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Club receives funding for grooming building from FWP

The Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Club (SLNSC) has been selected for full funding from the 2024 Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks Trail Stewardship Program.

This funding was requested by SLNSC for the second phase of our Seeley Creek Trailhead project. The second phase consists of constructing a sufficient grooming building at the trailhead to be used in conjunction with our grooming efforts. The first phase was completed late 2023, resulting in electrical service being installed to the Seeley Creek Trailhead.

A new 1,300 square-foot secure metal-sided/roofed building on concrete slab has been proposed for grooming and safety equipment storage and maintenance. The current permanent/temporary trailhead facilities are only adequate for a portion of our snowmobile and associated implement grooming equipment. An adequate grooming shed, able to house a snow cat in addition to other equipment, will allow us to maintain the quality of the ski trails long-term and better care for our grooming equipment investment, as well as sustain our volunteer base.

SLNSC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will be one of 20 participants of the upcoming Seeley Lake Community Foundation’s Change Your Pace Challenge May 1-31 to raise additional funding via tax-deductible cash contributions for our trailhead building project. Our organization has been successful in raising a portion of the remaining funds necessary for completion of the project through additional funding awarded from the Seeley Lake Community Foundation and MEC’s Operation Round Up.
