Senior center to launch website, Looking for sponsors

The Seeley Lake Senior Center (Sela Senci) took a step into the future this month, launching its first-ever website, which organizers hope will bring more attention and fundraising to the center.

Senior Center President Debbie Anderson said the center hopes to make it easier to access meal schedules, events and volunteer opportunities. The website, called seeleyseniorcenter.org, should be live as of Jan. 22. Suzette Baker made the website.

“We’re trying to get the senior center into the 21st Century,” Anderson said. “There’s still a lot of seniors in town that can use the senior center that don’t know it’s here.”

At the same time, the senior center is looking to add sponsors, in part to increase funding towards the center, Anderson said. She said the senior center has been running in the deficit for some time, and they hope to turn that around to keep providing services as usual.

The new website is divided into five sections: Home, Services, About, Join Us and Contact Us. Anderson said services include a way to access Meals on Wheels, the activities calendar, the lunch menu and durable medical products.

Anderson said the center can loan out canes, walkers, crutches and more free of charge.

In the About section, it tells the beginnings of the modern-day Seeley Lake Senior Center building, dating back to 1990.

The Join Us section provides an easy signup sheet to volunteer. Two sections of the website are still under development: the membership and sponsorship page. Teresa Cahoon said the membership and sponsorship programs will be ways for people to give back to the center.

Cahoon said memberships are a voluntary way to support the center, and one year’s dues would start this upcoming summer. She said sponsorships, which are brand new, hope to include local businesses and organizations.

“The perk is to get some advertising on the website, a plaque in the center, just a way to help money come into the senior center,” Cahoon said. She said interested people can call her at (406) 210-4688.

Anderson said the new projects have been ongoing for the last six months, and there could even be more things added to the website down the line.
