Seeley Lake Community Foundation awards two year-end grants

The Seeley Lake Community Foundation is excited to announce two special, year-end grants.

“As we move into the winter season, we are excited to be able to support two important projects that get people outside enjoying this special place we live, as well as bring people together to build community and celebrate Seeley Lake,” said SLCF Executive Director Claire Muller.

 The organizations receiving grants are:

Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Club: $5,000 for maintenance of cross country skiing that is free to all.

These funds will help with the expenses of maintaining a first rate Nordic classic and skate skiing venue that attracts and retains beginner, master and advanced skiers on a trail network that is fun, diverse and promotes interaction with the natural landscape. These dollars will allow a high standard of regular grooming and the ability to conserve snow and trail conditions with marginal or changing snow and climate.

Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitor Center: $2,300 for Winterfest activities

These funds will present a weekend of fun and activities for the residents of Seeley Lake on January 20-21, 2024. Visitors are also welcome. The events will include a Saturday night variety show featuring local talent, with all proceeds donated to Seeley Lake High School’s Scholarship Program.  The Seeley Lake Historical Society will host a snowshoe Walk ‘N Talk, featuring an outdoor visit to an area of historical significance to the valley. There will be events for kids of all ages, including sledding and a parade, weather permitting.  Organizers also hope to revive a snow-sculpture-making contest.

Tom Browder, board member for grantee Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitor Center, said: “Let’s revive a tradition that brightens up Seeley Lake during January! What can be better than a Ginger Williams variety show (remember January 2020’s Western Burlesque!), an opportunity to learn about the history of downtown Seeley Lake, and more events for families and kids. Join in the fun and enjoy this opportunity to meet new friends at Winterfest as we move into 2024.”

The SLCF Community Grant Program funds local projects in the areas of: art & culture, community & economic development, basic human needs, education, and natural resources & conservation. This annual program has provided over $350,000 in funding to 38 nonprofits serving the Seeley Lake area.

Nonprofit organizations are invited to submit grant proposals to the Seeley Lake Community Foundation for 2024 projects. Please submit completed applications to info@slcfmt.org by Jan, 31, 2024. For questions, contact the SLCF at 406-677-3506.
