Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte met with loggers and state forest officials to cut down the Capitol Christmas Tree on state trust lands in Greenough on Nov. 27.
The tree was located inside of a state timber sale, and loggers noticed the size and proportion early on. The tree will be taken to Helena where it will be lit in a formal ceremony next week.
