Jarabe Mexicano to bring energy at Seeley Lake show

Alpine Artisans’ 2 Valleys Stage opens their 2023 season with a community concert on Sunday, Oct. 29 with the exciting San Diego band, Jarabe Mexicano. This five-person Mexican American band will be presenting Dia de Los Muertos: “A Celebration of Life” with music and stories that highlight the importance of family connections and the power of cultural remembrance for Latinos and their descendants. Their electrifying performances show how this multi-generational ensemble embraces change while still honoring the past. These celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny events and anecdotes about the departed. The concert is at the Seeley-Swan High School auditorium at 3 p.m., and will be followed with in-school workshops and concerts in our four area schools on Monday and Tuesday. Tickets are available at the door.

Jarabe Mexicano captures the nostalgic spirit of their border roots with their charismatic brand of “Bordeño-Soul,” which honors the musical tastes and cultural influences of its members. Jarabe, which translates to “concoction,” highlights the eclectic mix of genres they perform ranging from Mexican Folk, Rock & Roll, and Norteño/Tex-Mex to Latin Rock, Trío Romántico, and popular Cumbia. Their traditional Mariachi string instruments and Norteño-inspired drums complement dramatic vocals in English, Spanish, and Spanglish, and shows how this multi-generational ensemble embraces change without forgetting the past.

Begin the holiday season with a dance performance by Missoula-based Bare Bait Dance, presented by 2 Valleys Stage. Their new winter show is “The Night Before”, a little mix of merry, jingle and Duke Ellington’s The Nutcracker with choreography by Bare Bait founder Joy French. The concert is on Sunday, Dec. 3, also at the Seeley-Swan High School auditorium. Tickets are available at the door for all concerts and on-line at http://www.alpineartisans.org/2-valleys-stage”https://www.alpineartisans.org/2-valleys-stage.
