The Seeley Swan Hospital district had a busy two-hour meeting last week, adding new board members, looking into maintenance and preparing to welcome Lazy Acre RV Park owner to its next meeting, with one member calling the upcoming talk “drawing a line in the sand.”
The district approved two new board members, Martin DeHaven and Suzette Baker, to a three year term and eight month term, respectively. Martin took the position from Twyla Johnson, who wanted to leave the board. Suzette took over Bruce Richardson’s spot, who recently moved out of state.
The board also voted for its new chair, Terryl Bartlett, and vice chair, Suzanne Philippus-Palm.
During the Sept. 12 meeting, things got heated over the impending RV Park adjacent to the Seeley Swan Medical Center. Some board members reported seeing trucks from Lazy Acres RV Park using the lot to get into the RV Park, and once parked
for a short period of time.
Bartlett said that action should be considered trespassing.
“I would be willing to email him to inform him that trespassing on a property is legally enforced,” she said. “To that end we are happy to visit with him at the October meeting, but I don’t know if we should just allow him to potentially trespass on hospital grounds to further something we are opposed to in the first place.”
RV Park executive Brandon Grosvenor was supposed to go to the board meeting in September, but the board opted to wait a month so it can get organization topics out of the way.
Board member Walt Hill said the district should keep looking out for any more use of the center grounds by Lazy Acres RV Park.
“He’s obviously not an honest man, and we have to deal with that in this case,” Hill said “And if he’s listening to this, I still think the same.”
A 73-spot RV Park will soon be developed next to the hospital district. The board previously sent a cease and desist letter in 2021 because of potential covenant violations. The Missoula County Commissioners approved the new project unanimously in August.
No action was taken on the issue, which will be discussed in greater detail with Grosvenor next meeting in October.
The board also discussed several basic maintenance requests. The board unanimously approved spending up to $1,000 to fix the medical center’s A/C system. Some estimates from the board said it could be more than $4,000 to replace, so they hope the current system can get back online.
The board also approved getting another quote on water damage to the ceiling of part of the building. The board also wants to look into what is killing grass on the center’s lawn, especially near the helipad.
The board will meet next month on Oct. 10 to talk more about the Lazy Acre RV Park and other returning agenda items.
