The Seeley-Swan Volleyball Team enjoyed a 3-0 set victory over Lincoln on Sept. 6, dominating the play in front of a loud home crowd.
Blackhawks Volleyball entered the game 1-2, with all three games going on the road. The Lincoln game was originally scheduled Aug. 31, but an illness with the team caused both sides to reschedule.
"We were transitioning, we were talking, we just had energy," head coach Janelle Greenwood said.
The team is starting fresh this year, as no starters returned from last year. Just one senior, Hattie Batchelder, is listed on the roster.
The Blackhawks started the first set down early, chasing spikes by Lincoln and getting their feet under them. The momentum shifted after sophomore outside hitter Darby Gleason blocked a potential kill along the net. After that play, the Blackhawks clawed back to tie the first set 18-18, and won 25-19.
There was no looking back from there, as the Blackhawks took a commanding lead in set two. Seeley-Swan took set two 25-17. Junior Amaiya Dalrymple and Gleason suffocated the Lynx attack with strong defense around the net.
By the third set, the Blackhawks were moving in rhythm, leading the offense and keeping Lincoln on the defensive side. The Blackhawks sent Lincoln home on set three, 25-21.
"We are really good at having great moments, but we need to learn how to just be consistent," Greenwood said. "Our age shows because we peak and then we fall, so we need to learn how to plateau and focus on our peaks."
The volleyball team then won versus Valley Christian in five sets on Sept. 9, and will be in action versus Granite High School as a part of a three-game home stand and homecoming.
