Football taken down by Manhattan Christian on road

Seeley Swan Blackhawks Football went 1-1 on the road the last two weeks, first beating Powell County High School before losing to Manhattan Christian the last week.

The Blackhawks took on Manhattan Christian in football last Friday. This year was the first that the Manhattan school fielded a football team, which lost to Lone Peak High School to start the season.

But after beating Cascade High School the next week, Manhattan Christian looked more dangerous than a first-year team might seem. The Blackhawks took advantage of the new team in the opening plays, scoring a 56-yard touchdown pass from Blake Irwin to Seth Dunster.

After a two point conversion the Blackhawks were up 8-0. Then Manhattan Christian kicked into gear, scoring an unanswered 56 points over the rest of the game. Head Coach Jacob Haley said the Blackhawks struggled with injuries and turnovers during the game.

"We look forward to next week which will be our next home game and homecoming game," Haley said, which is on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. "We would love to have lots of fans there to cheer the boys on."

The Seeley Lake Blackhawks faced an easy victory on Sept. 1, defeating the Wardens of Deer Lodge 66-14. Seth Dunster stole the show then with two receiving touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and a punt return.
