Margaret "Margo" Jane Reeve (1930 - 2023)

Margaret "Margo" Jane Reeve was born on Aug. 3rd, 1930, the long-awaited only-child, of David and Imogene Stutzman. Margo peacefully passed into her new life with Christ on March 31, 2023. She was 92.

Graduating from Cal Berkeley with a major in history, she loved her life as an Alpha Chi and maintained those relationships throughout her life. She earned her teaching credential and started her career in elementary education; working hard in those early years to gain tenure.

Margo taught in the Pasadena School District for many decades. Her lifelong passion as an educator motivated her to teach thousands of people of all ages to read. After her retirement, she volunteered with the program Reading is Fundamental. She read books to children in the Pasadena libraries and hand-delivered free books to the children she met there. She was a substitute teacher into her 70's; sleeping with the phone next to her head so the 5 a.m. phone calls would not wake her husband.

Deeply involved in many aspects of her churches at Oneonta Congregational and Alhambra True Light Presbyterian, she served as deacon, elder and welcomed new members with a dinner once a month at the First Year Club. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship.

Additionally, she served in many active roles with Alpha Chi Omega, PEO, Girl Scouts, Seeders & Weeders, Delta Kappa Gamma and Pasadena Woman's Club. She was a generous hostess and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining friends and family with her gracious and beautiful hospitality. As many will attest, she was a dedicated and great friend to have. Margo was a fan of etiquette and good grammar which she believed were keys to a successful life.

Margo loved to read, sew clothing for her young children, tend her roses and play bridge. She enjoyed time with her family and invested a lot of energy traveling to their different locations. She was a great communicator; offering encouragement and support through constant phone calls, emails, cards and notes. She invested generously in her family's education and acted as an educational advocate to each.

Throughout her activities, Margo was caring, beautiful and devoted as she gave her love to anyone in need. She worked hard to serve her family, friends and her many philanthropic interests. She is remembered for her generosity, sense of humor, kind heart and her positive outlook on life.

Dick and Margo were married 67 years. They are survived by three children: Carol Prichard (David), Joan Reeve Owens (Scott) and David Reeve (Betsy), eleven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

She will have a service in Seeley Lake MT at Mountain Lakes Presbyterian Church on Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. Memorials in her honor may be given to any reading or literacy program.
