Light in the Dark

In 2 Chronicles 6:1 Solomon said, “The LORD said He would dwell in the dark cloud.” Did you know that Jesus started His ministry in a dark place? When Jesus was choosing His disciples, Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-- Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip. (John 1 45-46)

Nazareth was in the region of Galilee and was considered backward. Isaiah called that region the land of the Gentile people those surrounded with great darkness. This was where Jesus started His ministry.

Isaiah 9:2 “The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.”

Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born…”

In the place where devastation had robbed hope, Jesus came on that scene. He chooses the places in our lives where we have the most disgrace and shame, and there He shines His light. Past failures become places of a future victory.”

“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” YES!

Can anything good come out of the dark place in your life? YES!

Pastor, you don’t understand what a mess I live in. Our society is so dark.

If I have invited Jesus into my heart, then He lives right in the middle of any mess I am in. God brings light into dark places.
