The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and it looks like Seeley Lake will have its first really good weather of the summer. What better way to “Celebrate our Lakes and Mountains” on Independence Day! Your Fourth of July Committee has been working hard to put all the pieces together to make this a great day for everyone. Get a good night’s sleep on Monday so you can start with a pancake breakfast at the Fire Department Tuesday morning. There are many activities, including the parade down the middle of town, planned for the day. Be sure to wrap up the evening with our spectacular fireworks show on the lake.
Many organizations and individuals are working on their parade entries, so keep your creative juices flowing and join us in the parade. Information (including the registration form) can be found at seeleyinfo.org, or by emailing browder.tom@gmail.com. Classic autos, decked out ATVs, wild and crazy costumes - we welcome it all! As in past years we will line up participants starting at 1 p.m. on B Street, across from Napa.
If you have guests coming up from Missoula (or any points south) there will be no construction activity (or pilot cars) from July 1 through July 4. However, the smaller interior section with the timed stop lights will be in operation, so remind folks to plan for delays coming through the construction.
As we noted before, our events involve some spending, primarily on fireworks, and your Committee is amazed at the generosity of our residents and businesses. Watch for a notice here in the Pathfinder with our heartfelt thanks after the fourth. Should there be fireworks funds left over, the Historical Museum & Visitor Center will earmark these for next year’s celebration. Contribution cans will continue to be up at our local businesses, so that’s where you should put your spare change. And speaking of our local businesses, let’s make this a record day for them!
We are confirmed for a flyover by the Montana Air National Guard, and we have procured a second barge for the fireworks show (we said it would be big, right?). Let’s show Missoula County and Western Montana that Seeley Lake knows how to celebrate the Fourth of July.
As always, the Committee members are eager to hear any suggestions you have. On the Fourth we will have our volunteer team in reflective vests, so any questions you might have, just ask us!
