On April 29 the Double Arrow Golf Course in Seeley Lake opened the back nine half of their course for the first time this year and local golfers have been teeing off in droves.
“It’s finally sunny and we can get out and golf,” said Chelsea Cahoon, pro-shop manager. “People have been itching to get on the course.”
Each day has seen upwards of 60 golfers take the course. They can be seen from Highway 83 driving and putting their way through the fast-moving high-water streams and green grass of the course.
“It looks busier than it really is because we’re squishing that many people onto one side,” Cahoon said.
Double Arrow plans to open the other half of the course as soon as possible. If the weather cooperates it could happen as soon as this coming weekend.
The lingering winter forced a late start to the course opening and unfortunately forced a high school tournament planned for April 26 to cancel. But with the course now open, plans are underway to host tournaments throughout the summer.
