Chamber to Discuss Seeley Sewer System

Discussion of a central sewer system for Seeley Lake will highlight the May meeting of the Seeley Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Local residents are encouraged to attend the meeting, according to Chamber president Rod Kvamme.

Council Appoints Johnson

Bud Johnson has been re-elected as chairman of the Seeley Lake Community Council. The action came at last week's regular Council meeting, the first to be held since general elections earlier this month. Other officers named by the Council were Addrien Marx, vice-chairman; and Jeff Macon, secretary-treasurer.

Local Woman Joins Air Force

The Department of the Air Force announced that Retta L. Hettling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hettling of Camas, Washington, enlisted in the Air Force recently. Retta, a 1987 graduate of Seeley Swan High School, will earn educational credits toward an associate degree in applied sciences through the Community College of the Air Force while attending both basic training and technical training schools.

Jean Slaight Donates Art Books to Alpine Artisans

Jean Slaight, local artist, recently moved to Washington State and donated a good selection of art books to Alpine Artisans. The local arts guild wanted them available not only to its membership, but also to the public and local students in the elementary and high school, and in turn donated them to the local library. A wide variety of mediums and subject matters are covered, such as watercolor, oils and sketching.

Public Comment Sought on FWP Funding of Ski Trails

The Seeley Lake Ski Club is requesting partial funding from Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks for maintenance of the cross-country ski trails 1.5 miles north of Seeley Lake. The money will help fund new equipment to maintain the trails in winter. Please submit comments to Sherri Wormser.

High School Drama Students Tackle Shakespeare

Friday, May 2nd, at 7:00PM, Seeley-Swan High School will present A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare.

Admission is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students and children. Desserts will be provided by the Home Economics classes and served by the Student Government.
