Potomac School set to host 19th annual bingo fundraiser

On May 13, the Potomac Parent Teacher Club is hosting their 19th annual Bingo fundraiser event at the Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula.

The school fundraiser, which raised roughly $27,000 for the Potomac School last year, is already stocked with a wide variety of prizes from businesses in the area and will be able to host another 10 tables more than previous years.

“Hopefully we sell all 65,” said Connie Ployhar, from the Parent Teacher Club. “We already sold 42.”

The event started as a small local fundraiser in the Potomac Community Center, but as it grew larger each year - this year they are expecting to bring in around 650 players - the PTC eventually had to move to a larger venue in Missoula.

“There’s people every year [who] can’t wait to come back.” Ployhar said.

Donations are still coming in, but so far this year they already include concert tickets to the Kettlehouse Amphitheatre and a custom metal fire ring from Pacific Steel. Ployhar says they expect to feature over 100 different raffle prizes valued above $50.

The Potomac PTC funds an assortment of things around the school, from a weekly artist visit, to playground improvements, and anything that teachers request extra funding for.

“Anything that the teachers need that is outside of their budget,” Ployhar said. “Or you know, sometimes it’s just a want. Basically, we just fill in where there’s a need which the school budget doesn’t cover.”

Table reservations opened on March 1, and will remain on sale until all the tables have sold. Each table of 10 seats sells for $200 with bingo cards at $1 each and multiple raffle opportunities throughout the night.

The games begin at 4 p.m. on May 13 and continue until all 12 rounds of bingo are completed and all raffles have been announced.
