Paige Paffhausen, from Seeley Lake, recently underwent a serious health scare and spent a month in the intensive care unit.
Paffhausen gave birth to her daughter on Dec 15, 2022. She and her husband Mick thought the toughest part was over but later that month Paige developed a terrible infection which led to a month-long ICU stay.
Paffhausen had her daughter, Parker, via cesarean at Barrett Hospital & Healthcare in Dillon. Paffhausen has been living in Dillon since moving there for college in 2016.
News of the birth was celebrated by her parents, Shawn and Michele Holmes, who still live in Seeley Lake as well as her long time friends.
About a week after the surgery the incision began showing signs of infection and Paffhausen was life-flighted from Dillon to Salt Lake City, where she underwent six surgeries and a skin graft.
During that time in Salt Lake City she received many cards and care packages from families in the Seeley Lake area.
"We got a bombardment of get-well cards and packages from people," Paffhausen said. "I've had past teachers send me a bunch of things and it was just very sweet."
Despite the threatening level of the infection, Parker was born healthy and hasn't suffered any serious health troubles.
"I sort of had a patch of bad luck there," Paffhausen said. "She's grown like a weed and she's happy and healthy and she's doing awesome."
Paffhausen would like to thank the Seeley Lake Community for all their support and let them know that she is back in Dillon, feeling fine and enjoying time with her daughter.
"It was very traumatic and scary but I just really wanted to send out a thank you to all the communities," Paffhausen said.
"On behalf of the entire Holmes and Paffhausen family we would like to thank all of you who gave Paige, Mick, and Parker love, support, and prayers over the past few months. Paige is now recovering well at home with her family. While she still has difficulties to face, being home has been the best medicine. Once again we are overwhelmed by the support, kindness, and prayers. We are fortunate and blessed to live in such a caring and compassionate community. Thank you all."
