Swan Song
Joanna Beardsley Kreitzberg died in Salem, Oregon on December 31, 2022 after a short illness.
She was born in Salem on March 7, 1939 to Andrew Beardsley and Mildred Weeks. She is descended from ancestors who crossed the plains in 1846-47 in the Applegate wagon train.
Joanna had a strong interest in history. She was a 4-H Club member for ten years with diverse projects, many awards, including two national trips, one of which included meeting President Eisenhower in the Rose Garden at the White House.
She attended Keiser Grade School, Monument High School, Oregon State University (BS), and Portland State University (MSW). She worked in schools and medical facilities.
In 1988 she met Richard Kreitzberg when he moved next door. They married in 1992 and had 30 years of glorious life together. They moved to Montana ten years ago where they built their own home and lived at Placid Lake, an hour from Missoula. They spent the winter months in Oregon.
Joanna is survived by her husband, her sister Nancy, six children/stepchildren and spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service and burial this spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Missoula, Montana.
