SALMON PRAIRIE - The Salmon Prairie School Christmas program - a student-written play entitled "Santa" - was held Dec. 20 at the school with friends and neighbors braving the elements in attendance.
Lake County Superintendent Carolyn Hall even drove from Polson in the snowstorm to attend the festivities.
Holl Hubbard - the one-room schoolhouse teacher of more than 10 years - welcomed the audience to the program which is given every year for the community.
The 100-year-old schoolhouse on the evening of the event held people from young to not-so-young who have connections to the community. One of those connections is this story's writer and photographer who taught at the school beginning in 1973 and still lives nearby.
People in the community have strong ties to their neighbors and the school.
An audience member remarked on the amazing structure of the old building which was constructed by the late Condon resident Reuban Kauffman.
