Spreading Holiday cheer, humor

GREENOUGH - Santa (Adam Wilson) slumped in his chair announcing "I have lost my ho, ho, ho." Mrs. Claus and Head Elf Gumball (Sera Benton) called in all the elves and reindeer to see if they could cheer him up to no avail.

While Santa did not even crack a smile during Sunset School's production of "When Santa Lost His Ho, Ho, Ho" Dec. 19, those in attendance filled the Paws Up Bull Barn with laughter at the antics. The elves and reindeer offered Christmas jokes, sweet treats, reindeer games, dancing, carols and gags with no response from Santa. When Mrs. Claus returned dressed as Santa and shared many of his Christmas sayings and stories, then Santa realized "Christmas isn't about all the things you do, it is about love. I realize now that my Ho, Ho, Ho is not about laughing but it is a true expression of joy that comes from feeling the love of the season."

After this pronouncement, Gumball asked Santa if he was back to himself. He announced, "Christmas is back on" and called all of his elves and reindeer back together to celebrate. All nine students joined together and closed the program singing "We Wish you a Merry Christmas" and "You Better Watch Out."

Supervising Teacher Toni Hatten said the students started working on the play after Thanksgiving and worked on it for about an hour each day.

"The students did a fantastic job," Hatten said. "I'm so proud of your kids. They do amazing stuff every time."
