Holiday shopping kicks off with local crafts

By Jean Pocha

“I started this craft show so Seeley people could get some nice, fun crafts and so local vendors had a place to display their wares,” said Carrie Darrah, organizer of the Seeley Lake Winter Craft Show on Sunday, Nov. 20. “Roads are good and it’s a beautiful day; I’m hoping for a good crowd.”

“Overall, vendors were happy with sales today,” Darrah commented after the show.

Vendors had wares including books, pottery, sewing, high-voltage wood burned products, photography, wreaths, local authors and pet products. Lunch was available as well. Vendor spaces fill up quickly after Darrah opens applications in September. Farmer’s Market vendors are encouraged to apply. This year’s vendors came from Seeley Lake, Condon, Helena, Missoula, Turah and Bonner.

As a potter, Darrah had 15 years of experience selling at craft shows to prepare her for coordinating the Seeley bazaar for the past three years. She took over the craft show from Rachel Wilkerson, who previously put on a show at the Seeley Lake grade school.

In September Darrah decides about the craft show and how to fit it into the fall schedule.
