Offering full time, holistic approach to chiropractic care

SEELEY LAKE – After close to two years as the resident chiropractor, Dr. Michela Reese purchased Seeley Lake Chiropractic. The office will no longer be part of the Optimum Health and Wellness, PLLC.

"My biggest goal is to maintain more of a full-time clinic up here, something that hasn't been done in quite a few years," Reese said. "Maintaining at least four days a week would be my goal. I'd also love to diversify a bit with other therapies such as massage and potentially acupuncture, bring a more holistic side to the medical care here."

Reese enjoys supporting high school athletes and offers a $30 special to athletes participating in an active season, such as football or volleyball. She performs sports physicals and physicals required by the Department of Transportation along with being a Veteran's Administration (VA) community care provider.

Veterans can get an authorization to visit Seeley Lake Chiropractic by contacting their VA office. This saves commuting to Helena or Missoula, Reese said.

Reese uses diversified techniques including cupping and muscle activation techniques for treatment. Cupping is when suction is used to separate fascia layers from muscles in order to break down adhesions and draw blood flow to the area. Muscle activation techniques stimulate the muscles that are fatigued or not working quite right, Reese said.

She also uses functional fitness and gait analysis to further specify a client's ailments. Gait analysis studies one's movements while walking or running to see if there are any faulty patterns. This helps determine the exact source of physical problems.

Reese will be bringing in other chiropractors to assist during the transition and as she prepares to start a family. Reese will continue to be involved throughout her pregnancy and maternity leave.

"I still obviously want to be pretty involved, even though I won't be treating as much," Reese said.

Reese grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and later went on to work as a ski coach at Fernie Alpine Resort in British Columbia. After she experienced several injuries requiring treatment, she decided to pursue a Kinesiology degree at the University of Lethbridge which she received in 2015. She moved to the U.S. in 2016 in order to earn her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon in 2019. She moved to Seeley Lake in November 2021.
