Providing customer service in today's real estate market

SEELEY LAKE – Resident Kim Van De Riet has formed a partnership with her son Corey, Kalispell, to open VDR Realty, part of the eXp Realty family. The Van De Riets look forward to listening to their customers and helping them find what they are looking for in Northwest Montana and beyond.

eXp Realty, LLC is a nationwide brokerage company with a supervising broker covering the state of Montana.

"Our brokerage is a little bit different because we don't have to be brick and mortar," Van De Riet said. "Everything's virtual."

Van De Riet got her real estate license in late 2020 and has been learning the process ever since. She worked with a team of other realtors prior to branching out on her own.

"I cover northwest Montana. The majority of my stuff goes up the Swan Valley and into Kalispell, Flathead County," Van De Riet said. "I've got buyer clients that have taken me into Libby and down the Bitterroot."

VDR Realty is seeking to add their own listings to the Montana Regional Multiple Listing Service (MLS) along with working for buyers in the region, Van De Riet said.

Customer service is foremost on her mind. "I want to be available and listen to what people are looking for," Van De Riet said. "The one thing that I've learned from the dozen deals or so that I've done in the last year, there is not one transaction that is the same as another transaction. There are so many things you have to learn and then to look at things creatively to try to work out a way that it's a win for both sides."

Van De Riet grew up in Eastern Washington and met her husband Mike in college. She received an Associate of Arts degree from Walla Walla Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Washington State University. She lived in the Great Falls area until relocating to Seeley Lake in 2008. She has two boys. Van De Riet worked at the local quilt store for 30 years. She began looking for a change when her husband retired from his job selling and servicing hearing aids.

In support of her son, Van De Riet took the Real Estate Licensing test and passed.

"I have always been interested in property," Van De Riet said. "Always looking up listings to see what is available."
