SEELEY LAKE – Seeley-Swan High School Football team scored 76 points Aug. 26 to beat the Powell County Wardens, 0.
The Blackhawks executed all three phases of the game, offense, defense and special teams said Jared Crum, Head Coach. Seven Blackhawk players were involved in scoring plays.
Scoring for the Blackhawks were Kaden Thornsberry, 26; Ben Haley, 16; Seth Dunster, 12; Owen Hoag, 10; Klayton Kovatch, 8; Cannon Hawkinson, 4 and Aiden Posthumus, 4.
Senior Quarterback Haley passed for 35 yards, rushed for 69 yards and had two rushing touchdowns for the night. Dunster, a sophomore, received two passes for a total of 35 yards.
Junior Hawkinson led the team with 12 total tackles, five solo and seven assists. Kovatch, a senior, had 10 tackles for the night, nine solo and 1 assist. Fellow senior Kase Anderson had seven tackles, all solo.
Thornsberry returned the second half kickoff by the Wardens for 64 yards and a touchdown. He had a total of 88 yards rushing on the evening.
Crum said. "Powell County played very tough, they just did not have the numbers to back up the starting eight." This is the Wardens first season at eight-man football.
"We made mistakes and have a lot to fix before we play Friday," Crum said. "I don't want our kids or the fans to be mesmerized by that score. We face a nightmare matchup for us in Ennis. They play very disciplined football."
The Blackhawks travel to Ennis Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
