Seeley Lake Market's sweet spot

Seeley Lake Market Spotlight

SEELEY LAKE - Home baker Mickol Rathbun sells the sweetest treats at the Seeley Lake Market every Sunday at her stand Mickol's Goodies. Rathbun always loved baking as a hobby and said this is her first year at the market.

"I've done a couple of other markets but this will probably be the only one that I've done long term," Rathbun said.

She said she's used to making treats for family, but didn't consider selling her bakery goods until her family recommended it.

"Just this past fall, I really got into it more than just a hobby," Rathbun said.

Since Rathbun sells a wide variety of pastries, she said she spends a long time on preparation. Depending on the treat, the baking process is different. Rathbun uses some mixes for her treats like some bakeries. She also uses doctored recipes she has tweaked over time.

Mickol's Goodies sells a wide variety of pastries including brownies, fudge, blueberry and cinnamon roll bread, cookie sandwiches and different flavored pies. Rathbun said brownies are among her most popular items, along with her cake cookies.

At her stand, she also includes samples of her treats to taste. She said she's excited to be at the Seeley Lake Market and hopes to keep selling each summer.

"I'm hoping to get my name out a little bit," Rathbun said. "It's kind of like a hobby, but it makes me happy and people enjoy goodies. I'm looking forward to getting out there."
