Seeley Lake Community Park community survey and meeting Aug. 16

SEELEY LAKE – The public is invited to attend the Seeley Lake Community Park Committee meeting Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 3:30 p.m. at Seeley Lake Elementary. The committee will reorganize and discuss community input gathered from the community interest survey posted at sleonline.org. They will also discuss the future direction of the park.

Community input through the survey and at the meeting is strongly encouraged. Visit sleonline.org to take the survey prior to the meeting or plan to attend.

Seeley Lake Library News

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Library Book Club meets the first Thursday of every month. The next discussion will be Thursday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m.  This month’s selection is “A Thousand Splendid Suns” written by Khaled Hosseini (author of “The Kite Runner”) in 2008. 

This is the story of an unusual and lifelong friendship between two Afghan women, spanning from the idyllic mid-1950s to post-Sept. 11 in Kabul. Bound by tragedy and fate, by political circumstance and custom, the two women live through the Soviet War, the harrowing days of the Afghan Civil War and the rule of the Taliban. Yet even as their world unravels around them and innocence is shattered, they find that there, amidst the ruins, is the possibility for hope, meaning and unexpected grace.  Books are available to checkout and everyone is invited to the Sept. 1 discussion.

Weekly COVID-19 update

As of Aug. 8 there have been 298,746 cases of COVID-19 in Montana. There have been 1,523,488 doses of vaccines administered and 571,073 Montanans fully immunized. There are 2,296 active cases, 12,857 total hospitalizations and 3,481 deaths in Montana due to COVID-19 complications. Missoula County has had 30,881 cases and 213 COVID-related deaths to date.
