Salmon Lake Highway 83 Reconstruction Open Houses

SEELEY LAKE - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) invites the public to attend a final design open house for the MT 83 Salmon Lake Highway Reconstruction project. The meeting will also be hosted online for those unable to attend in person.

MDT will reconstruct Highway 83 along the east side of Salmon Lake beginning in the fall of 2022.

Roadway and safety improvements should increase visibility and include:

• Widen the highway to include three to four-foot shoulders

• Straighten curves, flatten roadway profile and minor shift of the current roadway, where possible

• Improve existing cut slopes (rockfall hazards)

• Improve drainage

• Installation of new signage and guardrail, as necessary

Tree clearing in project areas will begin in the late fall of 2022. Most of the construction will occur in 2023, with final construction activities wrapping up in the spring of 2024. The project team will share final design details, project renderings and review construction plans. They will also be available to answer questions.

Open House Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 3-6 p.m. at the Seeley Lake Elementary School Gym

Online Meeting: Thursday, Aug. 11 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
