SEELEY LAKE - Michelle Brumfield, the manager of Montana Gas N Shop, plans to host a swap meet at the grassy lawn between the convenience store and the Citizens Alliance Bank every weekend for the rest of the summer.
Brumfield said the Swap Meet will likely start around 8:30 or 9 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday and end around 4:30 p.m. She hopes it will attract the attention of both the community and people passing through on Highway 83.
“I thought it’d be kind of a neat thing for people to pay a little bit of money and put all their stuff there,” Brumfield said. “I think it’ll bring people from right off the highway.”
Brumfield will likely charge $25 for a space for the whole weekend. So far, she said she’s had only three inquiries about the Swap Meet, but hopes to get more Seeley Lake residents to participate. Brumfield said anything from clothes to books to cookies to car parts is fair game for the event.
“The idea of a swap meet is you don’t necessarily have to bring something you make,” Brumfield said. “I mean, you can bring garage sale stuff as long as it’s within your taste.”
She added she hopes the Swap Meet will help the community.
“I know people are struggling,” Brumfield said. “It’s a lot easier to come set up your stuff down here and have more people stopping at the gas station, interested in what you’re selling.”
