Coffee & Computers, July 28

 SEELEY LAKE - Have technology questions or issues you want resolved? Come by the Foundation Building West Wing Thursday, July 28 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to visit with volunteers who can help on various devices and will try their best to help solve your issues.

 If possible, please bring the device and be sure to know your passwords so you can access what you need help with. For more information, contact Tom Browder at (646) 894-0247 or browder.tom@gmail.com.

There will not be an event in August but volunteers will be back on the last Thursday of September.

 The Foundation Building is located at 3150 Highway 83 in downtown Seeley Lake.

Seeley Lake Library News

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Library Book Club meets the first Thursday of every month. Our next discussion will be Thursday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m.

This month’s selection is “Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal” by Mary Roach.

Summary from the library catalog, “Few of us realize what strange wet miracles of science operate inside us after every meal. In her trademark style, Mary Roach investigates the beginning, and end, of our food.” The back cover of the book reads, ““In Gulp, we meet scientists who tackle the questions no one else thinks - or has the courage - to ask. Why is crunchy food so appealing? Why is it so hard to find names for flavors and smells? How much can you eat before you stomach bursts? Can constipation kill you? Did it kill Elvis?”

Roach has been called “America’s funniest science writer” by the Washington Post. Swing by the library to pick up a copy! 

The Summer Reading Program is going strong. Over 20 children are signed up and reading! Some have already turned in multiple reading logs and earned their free small ice cream cones from the Ice Cream Place, along with entering their names in our Grand Prize Drawing. The program continues through Monday, Aug. 15. The Grand Prize Drawing will be held Thursday, Aug 18.

The Seeley Lake Public Library now has a Facebook page! All library news, including new available titles, will be posted there. Check us out and “like” the page.

Reminder for the summer, life jackets are available to check out from the library!!

The Seeley Lake Community Library is located in the Seeley-Swan High School. It is open Mondays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information call 406-677-8995.

Weekly COVID-19 update

As of July 15 there have been 292,026 cases of COVID-19 in Montana. There have been 1,508,917 doses of vaccines administered and 569,285 Montanans fully immunized. There are 2,868 active cases, 12,568 total hospitalizations and 3,455 deaths in Montana due to COVID-19 complications. Missoula County has had 30,115 cases, 506 active cases, 29,397 recovered and 212 COVID-related deaths to date.

At-home test kits are available at no cost at the Seeley Lake Fire Department, 200 Firehouse Lane.
