SWCC Seeley Field Tour, July 20

SEELEY LAKE – Join Clearwater Resource Council and the US Forest Service for a Southwestern Crown Collaborative (SWCC) Seeley Field Tour July 20 from 1-4:30 p.m. followed by a social at the Trailhead Pavilion, one mile east of Highway 83 on Morrell Creek Road across from the Seeley Lake Nordic Trails.

The SWCC brings together citizens, businesses, government agencies and conservation organizations to consider creative solutions in the management of National Forests in the Blackfoot, Clearwater and Swan River valleys. The SWCC promotes sustainable forest management, the restoration of watersheds and science-based evaluation of management activities.

The field tour will include a variety of sites on Forest Service, DNRC, FWP, TNC and/or private lands. The tour will highlight topics such as forest restoration, including the restoration of stands to reduce risk of wildfire and improve forest health; fuels mitigation; disease management in beetle-killed stands and more.

Weekly COVID-19 update

As of July 11 there have been 289,345 cases of COVID-19 in Montana. There have been 1,503,681 doses of vaccines administered and 568,265 Montanans fully immunized. There are 2,700 active cases, 12,463 total hospitalizations and 3,450 deaths in Montana due to COVID-19 complications. Missoula County has had 29,874 cases, 550 active cases, 29,113 recovered and 212 COVID-related deaths to date.

At-home test kits are available at no cost at the Seeley Lake Fire Department, 200 Firehouse Lane.
