Change Your Pace Challenge exceeds expectations

SEELEY LAKE - During the Change Your Pace Challenge (CYP), the Seeley Lake Community Foundation raised $103,591.61 for 17 local organizations, including $26,633 for the CYP Match Fund. This was 28% higher than the $80,818 total raised through CYP in 2021. The highest number of individual donors gave since the program started in 2016 with 209 households making a gift. The match percentage ended at $0.40 on the dollar for eligible donations.

SLCF Executive Director Claire Muller said, "This was an exciting Change Your Pace Challenge. Halfway through the campaign, we tipped over half a million dollars total raised through CYP since 2016. The donation that tipped the total over the edge was $15! It was from a woman who made three, five-dollar gifts to her favorite local groups, excited to have her donation multiply with money from the CYP Match Fund. That is exactly what the Change Your Pace Challenge is all about – creating a mountain of community support that allows us all to accomplish more together than we could alone."

Muller continued, "Then the excitement continued: With only days left, the Match Fund was $700 shy of $20,000. The community smashed through that goal. Then, when we started calculating all the totals on July 1st, I realized we were $500 short of breaking the $100,000 mark! I put a CYP Match Fund donation button back on our website, and told everyone on our e-newsletter list how close we were. So many people pitched in to help, and the CYP Match Fund ended up at over $26,000, pushing the total over $103,000!"

The SLCF would like to thank everyone who donated through the Change Your Pace Challenge this year – especially to those who gave to the CYP Match Fund, including Lindey's Prime Steak House, Citizens Alliance Bank, Rovero's Ace Hardware, and Emily Rindal Insurance Agency. And a special thank you to Energy Partners, the headlining sponsor of this year's CYP Match Fund.
