SEELEY LAKE – Building 4 Wayne Cahoon Foundation presents Jason Gray, contemporary Christian singer/songwriter, at its first Music in the Mountains concert at 7 p.m. July 2 on the Cahoon Field 2930 Highway 83. General admission tickets will be available for $20 per person.
Chelsea Cahoon, event organizer and daughter of Sandee and the late Wayne Cahoon, said the Music in the Mountains concert is a realization of a dream her parents had for many years.
"My parents Wayne and Sandee have had this dream for a long time to have music out in their fields," Chelsea said. "They've walked the property many times and been planning it for a long time. We wanted to finish out what they started with that dream."
The Building 4 Wayne Cahoon Foundation was created in 2021 as a way to honor Wayne Cahoon who was killed in a plane crash in September 2020. The goal of the non-profit is to support youth in athletics. The original plan was to create a scholarship fund.
"He was very involved with youth," said Chelsea. "He coached football and golf."
The first fundraiser held by the organization last year was a golf tournament held at Double Arrow Golf Course. The second annual golf tournament will be held July 24.
"The Foundation is a way to continue to support youth" Chelsea said. "We were blessed at the golf tournament last year."
There is now a board which looks for needs in the community, Chelsea said. This year the group sponsored the Seeley Lake Baseball Club and presented scholarships to four graduating seniors. The Foundation also purchased some sporting equipment for the elementary school.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased at Deer Country Quilts, Heritage Outdoors, online at musicinthemountainsmontana.com or at the gate. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for the concert. Attendance is limited so purchase your tickets early.
