A Biblical perspective on Pride month

Letter to the Editor

An image of the Pride Flag started an article on June 9th that needs to have Biblical truth shined on it.

True love “does not rejoice in unrighteousness but rejoices with the truth,” (1 Corinthians 13:6).

The Pride culture revels in unrighteousness and rejects the existence of truth in God’s Word. True love is based on the Word of God as of the Bible.

Pride month, as celebrated by the sexually humanistic, anti-God culture of today, endorses and flaunts sinful behavior right in God’s face. The activities associated with Pride month target public schools to reach children, even as young as kindergarten, with the desire to normalize sexuality of every kind and indoctrinate them into sexual exploration and groom children for sexual exploitation.

The Psalmist characterized the hearts of those who push pride month and the gender and sexual confusion it introduces to young children and teens:

“Therefore, pride is their necklace; The garment of violence covers them. Their eye bulges from fatness (abundance); The imaginations of their heart run riot. They mock and wickedly speak of oppression; They speak from on high. They have set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue parades through the earth,” (Psalm 73:6–9 NASB).

I don’t know of any church in this community or across this nation that greets someone at the door coming to worship and asks them about their sexual preference, if they are adulterous, sexually active without being married, hooked on pornography or engage in any of other type of sin listed in the Bible. We greet them and tell them we are glad they have come today and look forward to getting to know them and worship with them.

The next three passages could be the theme verses to sum up what is being celebrated:

“So now we call the proud blessed, For those who do wickedness are raised up; They even tempt God and go free,” Malachi 3:15 NKJV.

“And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper…and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them,” Romans 1:28–32 NASB

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world,”1 John 2:16 NASB.

True love loves all people and shares with them the truth about sin and the only remedy for that sin, which is turning to Jesus Christ in repentance and asking His forgiveness.

Flying a flag or feeling accepted will not alleviate the pain caused by unloving people but Jesus says the following, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
