SEELEY LAKE - Nineteen Seeley Lake Elementary eighth graders celebrated their last day as elementary students Wednesday, June 8. Keeping up with the Seeley Lake tradition, the students presented family and friends with flowers during the ceremony.
The ceremony kicked off with a welcoming speech from Grace Neher.
"We will go our separate ways, but we'll all have the memories of our time at Seeley Lake Elementary," Neher said.
These memories were commemorated in a class slideshow featuring pictures of the students when they were young and their time together on class field trips, at school and participating in sport events. Along with students celebrating their time with their peers, faculty congratulated the graduates.
SLE Coach Bradley Miller spoke of his time with the eighth grade graduates and provided two pieces of advice: try new things and always engage and be kind in the classroom.
"Don't be afraid to leave your comfort zone," Miller said. "These next four years, you will have more opportunities to try new things than in your whole life. Whether it is a school club or a sport you've always wanted to try or just making new friends, don't be scared to branch out and try new things."
After the presentation of diplomas and class slideshow, SLE Superintendent Josh Gibbs added his closing remarks.
"I'd like to let you know you all have support," said Gibbs. "Never underestimate the amount of people that care about you."
