POTOMAC – Kenny Brown operates the Potomac Bar and Country Store with manager Christine Yedinak. Brown took ownership of the former Cully's business in April and hopes it will continue to be a place for locals and visitors alike to meet, socialize and purchase the supplies that they need.
Originally from Bonner, Montana, Brown moved to the Potomac area 16 years ago. Brown wanted to keep the business local, so he purchased it.
"I want a place for community people to meet," Brown said.
Brown also owns and operates Kenny Brown Flooring and has no plans to stop installation of flooring currently.
"Someday, I want to quit crawling around on my knees," Brown said.
Brown decided to resume the business name that was used before Cully's. The Potomac Bar and Country Store still offers most of the same products and menu. Country Store offers fuel and convenience items including soda, snack foods along with a few staples like eggs and milk. Packaged liquor is available from the bar.
The Grill still offers the famous Awful Burger in addition to bringing back Chicken Alfredo to the menu, Yedinak said.
Brown doesn't have a lot of changes planned for the operations. There is a plan to expand the casino portion of the bar operations, Yedinak added.
"I am learning the business first," Brown said.
Brown employs 15 people.
"We have kept everyone plus a few new additions," Yedinak said. "Community and staff have been patient and understanding through the transition. Without them this wouldn't be possible."
The Store opens daily at 6 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. The Grill operates from 11 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. with the Bar remaining open until 2 a.m. every day. The Grill serves breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Musicians meet on the patio to offer local music on Wednesday nights from 4 p.m. until around 9 p.m.
