Swan Valley Library News

SWAN VALLEY – There is a lot going on at the Swan Valley Library in June.

For children, the Library is hosting a summer reading program for kids of all ages. It will run all summer long and will include story/craft time for school-aged children from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Mondays starting June 13. The Library will also continue the third Friday story time for Preschool and younger children through the summer.

Spectrum Science in the Summer Program will present “Be a Biologist” June 20 from 1 – 4 p.m. This is for any elementary school-aged children to attend.

For the adults, the June book chat is about the book “Outside Valentine” written by Condon resident Liza Ward. Ward will attend the Book Chat on June 8 at 1 p.m.

Here’s a brief look at what the book offers.

“In 1958, as the snow fell across Nebraska, 19-year-old Charlie Starkweather and his 14-year-old girlfriend Caril Ann climbed into a stolen car and blazed into history with a string of bloody murders that stunned America. But why, over 30 years later, does Lowell, a Manhattan antiques collector, still dream of what happened? Who is Puggy, the young girl obsessed by the murders? And then there’s Caril Ann’s version of the story - from the day she first met Charlie to the end of their rampage on a farm outside the town of Valentine.”

Books are available for check out and everyone is welcome to attend.
