FRENCHTOWN - Mother nature provided a mixture of weather for the Frenchtown Invitational April 2 including sprinkles of rain, flurries of snow, wind and sunshine in no particular order.
Seeley-Swan High School athletes took the weather in stride as they competed against hundreds of athletes from 18 schools. However, a few of the top runners were a little blue to learn that the event's automatic timing system was not functioning. Relying only on hand times, nobody could auto qualify for state or set any records on the track.
Seeley-Swan's Boys took sixth place in the team points earning 62.5 points while the Girls took seventh place with 38.5 points.
The Boys 4x100-meter relay took third place while the 4x1600 team took fifth.
Owen Hoag took second in the 200-meter and finished the 100-meter in fourth while Sawyer Shelmerdine took fifth in the 800-meter. Chase Haines earned third in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles.
In the field events, Walker McDonald took the top spot in the Discus throwing 150 feet 5 inches and took second in the Shot Put with a throw of 47 feet 7 inches. Klayton Kovatch threw 128 feet for fourth in the Discus.
Both the Girls short and long relay teams took second place. Sariah Maughan took the Girl's only first place with her 800-meter while Emily Maughan took second in the 100-meter. Dani Sexton was the only Girl to place in the field events taking fourth in the Javelin with a new personal record throw of 103 feet 3 inches.
This week, Seeley-Swan heads to the 50th Annual Dave Tripp Memorial Track Meet in Polson April 8.
