FRENCHTOWN - The Lady Blackhawks blew through the District 13C tournament, taking home the top trophy and maintained their undefeated season. They got a bye in the first round and then took down Darby in the quarterfinal Feb. 18 before defeating Granite in the Championship game Feb. 19.
Darby put up very little fight as the Lady Blackhawks put them down 24-6 in the first quarter and didn't let up until the final frame. The final score was 68-28.
Emily Maughan put in 10 baskets for 20 points to lead the Lady Blackhawks. Dani Sexton and Kyla Conley also scored into the double digits with 12 and 11 respectively. Also scoring: Tegan Mauldin 8, Sariah Maughan 7, Ava Thornsberry 3, Rilyn Richardson 3, Trista Alexander 2 and Mia Saalfeld 2.
Lady Blackhawks pummeled Granite early, scoring 15 unanswered points in the first five minutes of play. Granite came back a little by the end of the quarter and put up a good fight through the middle of the game but could never fully recover. The Lady Blackhawks finished them off 67-39.
Sexton led the Lady Blackhawks with 23 points followed by Mauldin with 17. Both girls hit three, three-pointers.
Also scoring: E. Maughan 13, Alexander 5, S. Maughan 4, Thornsberry 3, Conley 1 and Saalfeld 1.
The Lady Blackhawks face West Yellowstone in their opening game at the Western C Divisional Tournament this week in Frenchtown. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Feb. 24.
