BCSA upholds Montanans' values

Letter to the Editor

The Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Act is important because it seeks to protect our precious Montana lands. The BCSA would preserve 80,000 acres of land for conservation, recreation and restoration. The act plans to restore fish and wildlife habitats, increase space for outdoor recreation for Montanans and conserve precious Montana wilderness by adding 80,000 acres of land to the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area. The BCSA’s plan would protect our land as well as strengthen Montana’s outdoor economy.

I am a freshman at the University of Montana and a board of director at Montana Public Interest Research Group. And one thing I’ve learned at my time here is how passionate the community here is about the Montana wilderness.

According to the Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Project, by adding 80,000 acres of land to the Bob Marshall, Scapegoat and Mission Mountains Wilderness areas, high quality wildlife habitat, clean water and recreational opportunities will be ensured and protected. As Montanans we should strive to keep our cherished land safe.

The Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Act upholds our Montanan values as conservationists and we should do everything we can to show our support for it.
