New financial services aim to prevent possible exploitation

A Note from Missoula Aging Services

Missoula Aging Services is pleased to announce the launch of an exciting new service available to clients in the Seeley-Swan Valley. The Money Management Program is designed to aid older and at-risk adults who are finding difficulties in managing their personal financial affairs.

Clients enrolled in the Money Management Program receive peace of mind in knowing essential bills are paid so their most important needs are met including shelter, food, clothing and healthcare. Undeposited checks or unpaid bills can lead to discontinued utility services, late fees and foreclosures. These financial difficulties can leave someone vulnerable to financial exploitation and elder abuse. Missoula Aging Services professionals are standing by to help you or your loved ones stay on top of financial responsibilities and prevent possible exploitation.

The Agency's Money Management Program Team Lead Cindi Oakes said, "This program is instrumental for older adults' ability to safely age in place. Our team of money management experts can provide a level of assistance that's right for each individual's needs. Whether it's helping clients create and maintain a monthly budget, serving as financial power of attorney, providing Representative Payee and Veterans Administration Fiduciary Services or even assisting in debt repayment, we have a solution for their financial needs so older adults can focus on enjoying life and knowing their finances are in order."

The Money Management Program is offered at an affordable rate and is available to all adults aged 60 and older who might be interested or have been referred by family or community-based service providers. Each new potential client is interviewed to evaluate their current needs and is given information about the specific money management services that will ensure personalized financial success. Individuals interested in enrolling in the service can contact Missoula Aging Services via phone at (406) 728-7682 or by visiting the website at missoulaagingservices.org to schedule a Money Management consultation at no cost.
