Swan Song

SEELEY LAKE - John David Sterling born March 29, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, died of natural causes Jan. 22.

The Chesapeake Bay, Patapsco River and the Maryland swamps were Dave's childhood haunts.

In 1959 Dave was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after four years of service. Shortly thereafter he packed his bags and headed for the big skies of the Treasure State.

With Dave's two-year-old son Johnny in tow, Dave married Roxie Irene Bower on Feb. 17, 1962. Clay Sterling, Leanna (Jim) Campbell and Lita (Ryan) Richards completed the family.

Together they've been blessed with 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

As a long-time resident of Seeley Lake, Dave loved his community and the many cherished friends. As Dave was an avid fisherman and hunter, the family has chosen to have a Celebration of Life in the spring when the bull trout are running.
