Seeley-Swan take on Tigers and Prospectors

The Lady Blackhawks and Blackhawks hosted the Darby Tigers Jan. 14 and then traveled to Philipsburg to take on the Granite Prospectors Jan. 15.

The Lady Blackhawks tamed the Tigers early putting up 19 and 18 points in the first two quarters to the Tiger's 12 and 7. They didn't let up on the Tigers until the final frame and finished them off 53-28.

Kyla Conley landed one three-pointer, five two-pointers and a free throw to lead the Lady Blackhawks with 12 points. Sariah Maughan followed with 10 points putting in three baskets and went 4 for 4 from the free throw line.

On the road the Lady Blackhawks chewed through Granite like it was nothing in the first quarter allowing just 2 points to their 15.

The Prospectors put up a fight after that nearly matching the Lady Blackhawks point for point in the second quarter and outscored them in the second half by one point. The early lead kept the Lady Blackhawks comfortably out of reach. The final score was 51-38.

Two Lady Blackhawks scored into the double digits with Emily Maughan putting up 16 points and S. Maughan scoring 14.

The Boys had a great start against the Tigers working up to an 8-point lead by the end of the first quarter but the Tigers had other ideas and were ahead 4 points by the half.

The Blackhawks clawed their way back in the third quarter and their first basket of the fourth quarter put them ahead. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks it would be their last basket of the game aside from a couple of free throws. The Blackhawks fell to the Tigers 40-51.

Walker McDonald led the Blackhawks with 18 points followed by Jason James with 9.

In Philipsburg the Blackhawks trailed the Prospectors by just a couple baskets early in the game but had it tied up going into the second half. After a close third quarter the Blackhawks sealed the deal in the fourth scoring 19 points to the Prospectors 5. The final score was 39-27.

Chase Haines and James both scored into the double digits with 10 and 11 points respectively.

This week Seeley-Swan's home game against Lincoln Jan. 21 has been canceled but the Boys JV will still take on Sentinel Freshman at 4 p.m. Jan. 21. Seeley-Swan then heads to Victor Jan. 22 with JV Girls starting at 1 p.m.
