There are several Missoula County governing board positions up for election May 3 in Potomac, Seeley Lake and the Swan Valley. Candidates can file their Oath of Candidacy form through the Missoula County Elections office for Special District elections until Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. The deadline for filing for School District elections is March 24 at 5 p.m.
The Oath of Candidacy must be signed before a notary and mailed or delivered to the Missoula County Elections Office, 140 North Russell Street, Missoula, MT 59801 prior to the deadline.
There are also vacancies on local boards that are available for appointment by the Missoula County Commissioners. Applications for vacant positions can be filed at https://boards.missoulacounty.us/apply/

GREENOUGH POTOMAC:
• Greenough Potomac Rural Fire Service Area: One, three-year position currently held by Member Jennifer Iverson. One, three-year term to expire May 31, 2024 is currently vacant. As of Jan. 18 no one has applied.
SEELEY LAKE
• Seeley Lake Community Council: Two, three-year terms currently held by Vice Chair Jack Greenwood and Member Doug Anderson. One, three-year term appointed by the Board of Missoula County Commissioners currently held by Secretary Tom Browder. As of Jan. 18 no one has applied.
• Seeley Lake Cemetery District (positions are appointed by the Missoula County Commissioners and are not elected): One, two-year term currently held by Member Mary Ellen Stubb. One, three-year seat that is currently vacant through April 30, 2024.
• Seeley Lake Rural Fire District: One, three-year term currently held by Member Jon Kimble. As of Jan. 18 no one has applied.
• Seeley Lake Sewer District: Three, four-year terms currently held by Directors Pat Goodover and Cheryl Thompson and one is vacant. As of Jan. 18, Goodover has applied as an incumbent.
• Seeley Lake Water District: Two, four-year terms currently held by Directors Freda Rathbun and Charles Hahn. As of Jan. 18 no one has applied.
• Seeley-Swan Hospital District: One, three-year term currently held by Member Walt Hill and one, one-year term currently held by Suzanne Philippus-Palm. As of Jan. 18, Hill has applied as an incumbent.
SWAN VALLEY
• Swan Valley Community Council: Two, three-year positions currently held by Members Dan Saari and Lacy McNutt. There is also one term that is currently vacant through May 31, 2023. As of Jan. 18 no one has applied.
• Swan Valley Fire Service Area: Two, three-year terms, one for Missoula County and one for Lake County. The Missoula County position is currently held by Member John Mercer. The Lake County position is currently held by Member Ray Haera.
